JEWISH CHEMIST
CONVERTS
July 22, 1986
To whom it may concern,
It is with deep gratitude that I give this testimony of my conversion at the
request of my dear friend, Virginia.
I am using my business stationery (Henry Wiegand
Corporation) to emphasize the fact that I am not given to imagination, having
been a chemist. Having been raised in an orthodox Jewish home, I never was
interested in Christianity.
Even though I married a Protestant girl, who later on
became a Catholic, and our children were raised Catholic, I never considered
changing my religion.
My wife had been receiving literature from a well
meaning friend stating that the Virgin Mary was appearing in Bayside, New York.
My wife paid little attention to these rather
frightening reports of the coming chastisement due to increasing sin in our
world. But she became troubled, wondering whether there could be some truth in
it after all.
On October 4, 1974, she prayed in front of the Virgin
Mary in our parish church in Charlestown, N.H., asking for an answer in regard
to these alleged apparitions.
After having completed her prayers, she went to the
rectory where she spoke to the parish priest, his housekeeper, and another
parishioner. They did not speak about church related matters. My wife had an old
Rosary with her which she had put on the kitchen table. This Rosary had turned
rather black with all the years. All of a sudden this very Rosary turned, within
a minute, into the most beautiful gold color. When my wife showed me her Rosary,
I did not believe that this was the very same 20-year-old Rosary that I had
fixed many times, as the links were coming apart.
My wife still had the flyers from Bayside, and we
decided to go down to the apparition grounds to get more insight. I said,
"If God wants me to become a Catholic, something has to happen to me--this
is Your sign."
We drove down to New York on the Feast of the Holy
Rosary with Virginia. Many people had given us their Rosaries. Also, I had a
Rosary that belonged to our son. He was not that devout any longer, even though
he still attended Sunday Mass....
I had checked every Rosary to assure no false claims
could be made. I had put all Rosaries into an open compartment of my car; we
were a half-an-hour from home when I noticed something shiny. Among the
Rosaries I could see our son's Rosary turning in front of our eyes. The Hail
Mary beads turned into a gold color while the Our Father beads turned into a
copper color. There was no logical explanation for this. Having studied
chemistry, I could not find an argument to disprove what had happened.
I spend three of the most troubled weeks of my life
trying to cope with this unmistakable call of God for my conversion. I could not
sleep. I read the Bible, the New Testament especially, and as many books as I
could get my hands on in regard to apparitions--like Lourdes, Fatima, La Salette,
etc.--also books on stigmatized saints, and the Catholic Faith in general.
Finally, I realized that I had to follow God's call. At
the Easter Sunday Vigil Mass 1975, I was baptized into the Roman Catholic Faith,
and I thank God and Our Blessed Mother every day for the great gift of faith. We
attend daily Mass, and we are very active in our Church.
I am presently the president of the parish council and
I try to serve God in every capacity.

Dear Veronica:
On June 7, 1979, my sister Joan MacIntyre was
rushed to the hospital with cirrhosis of the liver. The attending
physician said there was no hope. Three nights later, the doctor said she
would not live through the night. I put the rose petal from Bayside on her
and prayed to Our Lady of the Roses. The next day my sister came out of
the coma and responded to the medicine. She went back to Church after
twenty-five years and received the Sacraments. The doctor was amazed and
had no explanation for her recovery. Enclosed is a statement from the
family physician stating her recovery was nothing short of a miracle.
Thanks to Our Lady through the rose petal.
Thank you,
Madeline

"IT
COULD ONLY BE EXPLAINED AS A MIRACLE"
April 20, 1979
I'm writing to witness what I consider to be a miracle through the intercession
of Our Lady of the Roses, Mary Help of Mothers. I have had a hearing problem for
many years and discovered lately it was getting worse. The doctor advised me to
have an operation first in one ear, and six months later the other ear.
While I was recuperating and still under the doctor's
care, my brother-in-law brought me a medal from the Bayside, New York Shrine. I
pinned the medal to my person and prayed to the Blessed Mother that I wouldn't
have any difficulty with my ear that was operated on, plus knowing full well
that in six months I would have to go into the hospital for my other ear.
On my last visit to the doctor, while examining the ear
he operated on, he decided to examine my other ear so we could make future plans
on my upcoming operation. To his amazement my punctured ear had healed. When I
asked him how could it be, he said it could only be explained as a miracle!
When I went home and was explaining it to my family
they reminded me of the medal from the Bayside Shrine, and I knew then that the
Blessed Mother had heard my prayers and granted me the miracle I was praying
for.
Sincerely yours,
Mrs. R.V.

CURE FROM DRUGS
December 16, 1981
Please find enclosed a letter that I would like you to
put at Our Lady's statue.
To make a long story short, I went with friends in my
car to the Vigil site on June 13th, 1981. I wanted to change my lifestyle but
couldn't do it. I was a drugged and gay disco kid. We stayed all night, praying
and taking photos. Nothing happened. So I left the grounds discouraged,
depressed, and thought I was too much of a sinner to be saved!
One month later (July 15, 1981) I quit my job. In
September I moved in the country 20 miles from the city. In October I stopped
taking drugs, and I rarely go to a disco. When I do, it's only for about an
hour. I can't stand it any more. And, also, I've taken a vow of celibacy. My
friends find it strange how I've changed. Actually so do I. I know I couldn't
have done it by myself. The Lord does work in mysterious ways. Blessed be the
Lord and Our Lady!
Bless you, Veronica, and all those you hold dear,

"OUR LADY HAS CURED MY DIABETES"
July 9, 1981
Dear Veronica,
Last September I went to a doctor and he informed me I
had a bad case of diabetes. He told me I would have to taken insulin injections
for the rest of my life. I refused, but agreed to take pills.
I sent my petition to you to be placed at Our Lady of
the Roses Shrine. Since that time I have had three checkups, and each one showed
that my blood sugar was normal. I had asked in my petition for a cure.
I do believe Our Lady has cured my diabetes, as I am
eating regular meals and have never felt better. I want to thank Our Lady of the
Roses publicly.
Now I am sending a petition on behalf of my sister in
England who has phlebitis and arthritis. God bless you, Veronica, and your work
for Mary.

"WHEN I KISSED THE STATUE MY HIP AND SPINE WERE
HEALED"
October 5, 1979
Dear Veronica,
I am 82 years old. When I attended
the Vigil of Our Lady of the Roses Shrine on September 14, 1979, the Vigil of
the Triumph of the Cross, Eve of Our Lady of Sorrows, I received a cure.
I had stayed until the very end. My two daughters
brought me up to the statue of Our Blessed Lady. I was so weak and in pain I
could hardly make it to climb the steps. One of the Saint Michael guards tilted
the Madonna statue so that I would be privileged to kiss it. When I kissed the
statue my hip and spine, which had been badly damaged in a bad fall, were
healed. I had prayed with all my heart during the Vigil for Jesus to heal me.
Through the prayers of Our Blessed Virgin Mary I have been truly blessed and
healed at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Roses, Mary Help of Mothers.
I walk really good now, and I am free of severe pain in
my hip and spine.
I thank God with all my heart for all his blessings and
care.
Closing with great love for Jesus and Mary.
Sincerely yours,
from Long Branch, New Jersey
CURES OF HYPOGLYCEMIA AND EPILEPSY
October 3, 1980
Dear Veronica and workers,
In 1976 I took a five-hour glucose
tolerance test and the results indicated a pre-diabetic condition and sever
hypoglycemia.
I have prayed to Our Lady of the Roses for a cure. I
have just had another glucose tolerance test, and to my surprise and that of the
doctor, the results were normal! I attribute this cure to Our Lady of the
Roses and thank Her from the bottom of my heart!
Also, my sister J.K. has been an epileptic for about
twelve years. I again prayed to Our Lady of the Roses for her. A recent
brainwave test shows no epilepsy whatsoever.
I cannot thank Our Lady enough. I hope these cures will
inspire many others to seek Our Lady's help.
Sincerely yours in Our Lady of the Roses,
from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
CURE OF PARALYSIS
June 18, 1984
Yamilka Maldonado, an eleven-year old Hispanic girl from the Bronx was
instantly cured of paralysis of her right arm and her right side at Our Lady's
Anniversary Vigil (June 18th) when Veronica blessed her with the Shrine crucifix
that night. The paralysis had been brought on by a stroke, which she had
suffered as a result of a tumor in the brain. The stroke had occurred four days
before on June 14th:
"I attribute my daughter's cure to the
intervention of Our Lady of the Roses at Bayside. I believe and trust Her."

LUNG AILMENT
June 28, 1984
Mrs. Gunawardana fully recovered from a lung disease with which she had
suffered for the past forty years after wearing a rose petal over the affected
area:
"My cough has vanished, and I am quite relieved
of the ailment. It's a miracle. Even the medical men could not cure me."

DIABETES AND HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
April 15, 1984
Mrs. Cerminaro was informed by her doctor that she no
longer had diabetes and that her blood pressure was normal, after she had
suffered from both for five years. She had given up all hope of recovery and
only accompanied her brother to the Bayside grounds out of desperation:
"I was away from the Church for thirty-five
years; I am now a regular attendee of the Vigils, and have returned to the
Church; in addition, my husband, who has been away an equal length of time, has
also returned. I attribute all of this to Our Blessed Mother and Bayside."
